Does Google’s Project Fi phone service offer a student discount?
First-time users of Google’s Project Fi phone service save $20 when they open an account with a special referral code (by using the button below). Technically, this isn’t a student discount, but you save so much on their phone plan that it counts as one.
The phone plan is offered through Google. It’s brilliant because you are not tied to one network. As you move throughout your day, the service surfs between mobile networks and wi-fi, ensuring you always have the fastest network. If you are traveling abroad, international data is the same price as when you are home.
How much do you save?
Project Fi allows you to control how much money you spend. The base plan is $20 a month for unlimited text and domestic calls. After that, you are only paying for data use. That means as long as you are connected to wi-fi, data is FREE. But let’s be real, you’re a person on the go and aren’t always connected to wi-fi. Your data use is easy to monitor through the Project Fi app. It shows you real-time usage, where you are in the billing cycle, how many days you have left, and lots of charts to geek out on. Optional Bill Protection tools cap your spending on data and group plans are also available. Many people save up to 50% off their phone bills.
How to qualify for Project Fi?
One caveat is that the plan is only available for certain phones. If you want to purchase a phone, there are many to choose from, but if you have one that is compatible, it’s easy to transfer to the plan.
